It works well on all surfaces like steel, galvanized steel, fiberglass, cured body filler, aluminum and OEM enamels. To apply, spray at 8-9 PSI at the cap for HVLP or 30-35 PSI for conventional guns, then apply 2-3 medium wet coats, allowing 2-3 minutes flash time between coats. The final dry film thickness should be a minimum of 1.0 mil.
The Finish 1 Etch Primer Reducer dries quickly. It may be coated in 30 minutes, and if sanding is desired the FP301 may be sanded in 60 minutes. Do not wet sand. Finally you can scuff the sand with a 320 grit or finer sand paper after 24 hours. It does not have to be re-primed. This reducer has a pot life of one day and a theoretical coverage area of about 213 square feet per gallon.
To prepare the surface for bare substrates, solvent clean thoroughly with FT200 surface cleaner and wipe dry with a clean cloth. For pre-painted substrates, wash the surface thoroughly with a mild detergent and water. Rinse well and wipe dry with a clean cloth. Solvent clean and wipe dry again. Grind the paint off and remove the rust, and then fill body filler, allowing it to dry and shape as required. Sand the repair area and featheredge using 80, 180,280 and finally 320 grit sand paper.
